I was referred to Jeanette by a massage therapist. I had studied yoga years ago and tried to do a little almost daily but I was having a lot of physical issues at the time. I was one of the victims of the Camp Fire and lived the first 9 months at the Residence Inn with my husband and 2 dogs. It was nice to have a place to stay but after months in a rather cramped living area, dealing with the insurance company and trying to figure out our future, my stress level started to take a toll on me and my body. At 67 years old, I wasn’t bouncing back like I used to. My neck and back were constantly hurting for the first time in my life and I noticed I was losing flexibility. I tried to stay active using a treadmill, do a little yoga, see a chiropractor regularly, and occasionally have a massage, but I was not seeing any significant improvement. It was not until after I had been to Jeanette did I see a real difference in how I felt. She showed me ways to stretch and use different aids to relax different muscles in my problem areas. She pointed out muscles that just would not relax and suggested I have the massage therapist address these areas specifically. It was amazing the results I had with both Jeanette and the massage therapist working together to help me. I was finally getting relief and the mobility in my neck that I thought I had permanently lost. Jeanette was always very positive and gentle in her approach while encouraging me to do a little more. She directed her approach and the appointment to the feedback I gave her with regard to how I was feeling at that time. It was very obvious she was personalizing each session. Not only do I feel better but I feel inspired to keep getting stronger and doing more. I appreciate everything she has taught me, and the assistance she has provided to help me feel better. I would recommend her to anyone of any age.

I spend most of my weekdays working in front of a computer for eight hours per day. About ten years ago I started to feel an increasing amount of tightness and pain in my neck and shoulders at the end of the workday. And I started noticing decreased mobility when I turned my head left or right. To reduce this pain I started using a sit/stand desk, got regular chiropractic treatments, got regular massage treatments, used e-stem therapy, used a heating pad, and tried home stretching and exercise routines. All of these efforts helped to varying degrees to relieve my pain and reduce the symptoms, but the relief was only temporary. If I didn’t continue with my treatment every 1-2 weeks, the pain and reduced mobility would reappear quickly.
After doing these various efforts for a few years and paying hundreds of dollars per month, I decided to try Yoga. I really wanted to focus on the root cause of the pain and less on just treating the symptoms. I attended a group Yoga and stretching class with Jeanette on a weekend and I was really impressed with her knowledge of various techniques that focus on specific muscles, nerves, and ligaments that were causing issues for me. She led the class through an hour-long routine that focused on stretching and strengthening areas of the neck and shoulders to help increase mobility and decrease pain. I could tell from just this one class that if I did this type of yoga on a regular basis it would really help me.
So I signed up for a series of individual once-a-week yoga classes with Jeanette for six weeks to see if she could help me. For the first few classes Jeanette would have me try different movements to see what worked and what didn’t. After each class, Jeanette made sure I understood how to do each movement correctly and provided a list and diagrams to help me remember. Then I would go home and I did the routine she had developed for me. The next week we would discuss what worked, what didn’t, and what I needed help with. She would quickly check how I was doing each technique to make sure I was doing them correctly. Then Jeanette would add a few new techniques for me to try over the next week. Jeanette has a very calm demeanor and a low-stress teaching style that made it easy for me to learn the various yoga movements.
Within two weeks of consistently following the yoga routine Jeanette was developing for me, I was starting to feel results with less pain and increased mobility. By the end of the six-week series of classes with Jeanette, she had developed a yoga and stretching routine that really addressed the areas that were causing me pain. She also adjusted the routine as needed so I could complete it within the time schedule I had available throughout the week.
Thanks to Jeanette, my neck and shoulders are pain free and I have much greater movement in them for the first time in years. Jeanette is a great teacher and healer, and I would definitely recommend her.
In my mid-forties, I started participating in some intense physical training with my son’s Taekwondo teacher and later moved on to high intensity interval training. My rationale was the harder I worked, the better I’d feel. I discovered, though, that these classes made me prone to injuries, especially when I wasn’t paying attention to proper form. My wife suggested that I try Yoga to balance my workout routine. At the time, I was on the board of a local free clinic where Jeanette was teaching a class. For several months, I attended this class and Jeanette patiently taught me the basics of Yoga. I found that the practice was not only beneficial to me physically, but also mentally and spiritually. Recently I have been working with Jeanette to improve my posture and strengthen parts of my body that are prone to injury. She has helped me be more mindful of my body and taught me that it’s not necessary to push it to the point of pain when I exercise. In the time I’ve worked with Jeanette, my blood pressure has decreased to a more healthy level, I am able to approach my work with clearer focus and purpose, I have significantly reduced my stress level, and I am becoming more mindful of what I eat. It has been a pleasure to watch Jeanette develop her skills as a healer over the years and I am grateful for her calm, non-anxious presence and patience. She is a valuable part of my short and long-term health and wellness plan and I highly recommend her.
